How Storage Works:

• Saved titles, rules and settings are kept in Chrome's sync storage. If you are signed in to Chrome with sync turned on, Chrome syncs them to your other devices through your Google Account, under Google's privacy policy. Otherwise they stay on this device.
• Titles set for a single tab are kept in session storage only. They never sync and are removed when the tab or the browser is closed.
• No data is sent to our servers or any third parties
• You can delete saved titles anytime from the extension's options page, or remove everything by uninstalling the extension

4. Permissions Explained

Tab ReTitler requests specific permissions to function properly. Here's why each permission is needed:

Required Permissions:

• "tabs": To read current tab titles and URLs for matching against your saved rules
• "scripting": To inject scripts that change the document.title on web pages
• "storage": To save your custom titles and preferences with Chrome's storage API
• "contextMenus": To add a right-click menu option for quick title changes
• "bookmarks": To suggest bookmark titles when setting custom titles (read-only)
• "<all_urls>": To work on any website where you want to change tab titles

5. Data Security

We implement several security measures to protect your data:

• Local Processing: All data processing happens locally in your browser
• No Network Requests: The extension itself does not send any data over the internet. Only Chrome sync, if you turned it on, carries your saved titles between your devices.

Tab ReTitler does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. The extension does not make any network requests.

Tab ReTitler does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The extension is safe for use by users of all ages as it only manages tab titles locally.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

You have full control over your data:

• Manual Deletion: Delete individual title rules through the extension's options page
• Automatic Cleanup: Titles set for a single tab are removed when the tab or the browser is closed
• Extension Removal: Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data
